Anybody use BBSSH on Sprint?

I’m considering a switch to Sprint from AT&T (getting too frustrated with my constantly-fluctuating signal in a mid-sized city…) when they receive their next BB refresh.
I was wondering if anybody had used BBSSH on the sprint 3g work and if so, how well did it behave? Any problems with blocked ports or APN configuration? (I won’t ask about speed, because that tends to be very region-specific.)

Too- does Sprint 3G support simultaneous voice & data?

I tried using BBSSH on Sprint in January and found that after a short while the connection to my machine would timeout. I can’t say where the problem lies, only that I wasn’t able to use use the software after being connected for a few minutes. It could be a problem with my phone, with Sprint, with the server, but I just don’t know.

I can receive texts while on the phone on Sprint’s 3G network, but not emails. I think I can send while on the phone, too. I’ve not tried browsing the internet while on the phone; I use Opera Mini, and it struggles so much I’ve never tried being on the phone at the same time.

I’m using it on Sprint with BB bold 9650, no problems so far. As far as I know no simultaneous voice & data while using 3G. It supposed to work on 4G however.

I use BBSSH on sprint. I don’t use it often but it works fine. I didn’t have to do any custom configuration, so I don’t know if there are any blocked ports or anything.

As far as simultaneous voice and data this is only supported if a wifi connection is available. There is no simultaneous voice and data over 3G. When a voice call is up, no data can be received or transmitted. You can still send and receive SMS messages though.

As for sprint overall, I switched from At&t to sprint in 2008 I think and I have been pleased with my service. There are some coverage issues in areas outside of the cities, but overall coverage is better than what I had with At&t (note: I had problems with At&t in those same areas). Customer service has be excellent and the price/value (the main reason I switched) of the service is also excellent.

Good to know, thanks for the reply.

Of course now word of the Torch 2 is out for next fall, and I assume it will be at&t initially… so I’ve got a tough choice ahead…

I don’t think there are plans for a CDMA torch. The Montana should be coming to sprint this year. It is a touch screen blackberry similar to the bold 9000 (with better specs of course). I would get that, but I am waiting for them to announce a QNX based blackberry before I buy another phone device. I should be receiving a playbook in the mean time though.
